My Story:

Since childhood I’ve had an obsession with jewelry and all things sparkly! Some of my earliest memories are going through my grandma and mom’s collections of jewels and arranging them in different containers and tins.

I loved art and was always creating, from painting candles at age 8 to making napkin rings with copper electrical wire and Ghanaian sandcast glass beads at age 14. Even when I was 8 I tried selling my wares to any of my parents’ dinner guests showing an interest.

After school I took a course in lampworking in South Africa and made glass beads. With these creations I thought, why not make my own silver findings instead of using generic store-bought ones?

We were living in Ethiopia at the time, and I decided to learn from the traditional craftspeople how it’s done. Working with ancient techniques to form raw metal, I learnt things like melting ingots in a charcoal furnace, pouring bars with long metal tongs, forging with assortments of customized hammers, sawing shapes by hand, and using a mouth-held blowpipe to solder elements together. And that was the moment I found my calling!

In 2014 I opened a shop in Fiji and fell in love with pearls. I struggled however, to make masculine designs and didn’t cater to men’s jewelry. After a while I realized that most of what I’ve done had always centered around feminine styles - and then it all hit me, I’m transgender and my love of jewelry has been an expression of my feminine side all along!

Some pieces from Fiji featuring Savusavu pearls, Ethiopian opal, Tsavorite garnet, red spinel all in oxidised silver, with 14K gold details.

Needless to say that caused a bit of a hiccup in my personal life, and I moved to New Zealand in 2019 for a fresh start and to transition.

And so here I am, living authentically and to my values, doing what I’ve always done - offering my best work and using my unique experiences and training to bring you designs that I have always believed every woman should wear proudly!
